Hate peddling is unfortunately human, and doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with religion, any religion. As all the religions teach to overcome hate, here are some quotes about doing unto others. http://hatesermons.blogspot.com/2008/03/hate-sermons-from-pulpit.html
No one needs to rejoice, gloat, stereotype or condemn the "other" without looking inward; the ugly ones are connected to each one of us, via belonging to the same nation, same religion, same race, continent or heck, the planet earth. Knowledge allows us to at least stop barking at others as we (each one of us) deserve to be barked at as well.
This blog was created to accumulate a list of all hate mongering dialogues and work on finding solutions, as most of it is rhetoric, neither the Jewish majority means to kill the Palestinians or Hamas means to drive Israel into the ocean (Check out the interviews with Charlie Rose). Both are stances taken to assert an extreme position. We do not have honest media, they are all paid staff to deliver what is told. Sadly they highlight the ugly statement of the other and fail in their responsibility of the vice-versa. Thank God, we have hope for mankind, there is BBC and PBS still delivering honest news.
I have included Kiran Kapoor’s quotes and it is the responsibility of each one of us to refute that which is un-truth. We have to work to create a better society. I invite any and all comments to share if the following comments are not true. Finding the truth is one's own responsibility.
We have to learn to accept that the statement is not made by you or me, but you and I have the responsibility to discourage and condemn all such statements without flinching, hesitating, corrupting or defending the men and women who have made such statements. This is the reason, you find me jump on every Muslim that makes hate statements.
We are all on the same side, to do good, to create a society of harmony, as it ensures safety to you, me and every one.

Our topic is Hate speech, and how we are going to deal with it, at least among the members who are accessing this thread. I have lauded the Canadian Government for banning Dr. Naik from participating in the conference.
I have deleted three comments that cursed out Muslims and Jews, that won’t add to the solutions.
Dialogue is the best available option where we can place all our cards on the table influenced by emotion, religion, injustice, frustration, anger etc… and it appears that we are placing a lot of cards.
We have a choice to be frustrated and run and that’s what we have been doing and it has not worked. Or we can face and listen to both sides and re-assess our opinions based on a full understanding of the situation.
If the goal is sustainable solutions, we need to hear opinions that we do not agree with and have the objective of finding solutions. We need to restrict speeches that are derogatory and cause misunderstandings.

- Robert,Indeed Kiran's statement amounts to hate speech and stereotyping. Thanks for bringing this up. Let's give her the room to clarify and share her thoughts.Zionism in its simplest form is the desire of the Jews in diaspora to live in their home land, indeed, that is the desire of most people; to be at home where they feel secure.
Zionism. encapsulates the dream of the Jewish people to have a homeland; it is an idea of life for the people. The Word Zionism conjures up different images to different people, we have to accept that bad elements are in every group, whether Zionism, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism or others, we cannot brand the whole group for the acts of few, this amounts to stereotyping and it is wholesale prejudice.
Robert, I will post these three items from the thread at the blog site. Agree Hate messages are destructive to the society, especially on the Media and the mouths of the politicians, let's hope to work this up to a movement to to treat hate speech as an act of yelling fire in a crowded place

In fairness to Kiran, I have as an American at times in private become so angry with my political leaders (i.e., Bush and his war of choice, the biased and onesided foreign policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, etc.) that I have said some pretty ugly things directed toward Bush and others who facilitated injustice around the world.
I think Bush/Cheney are war crminals, but fully recognized that in the realpoltic world they will never face international justice. I am no stranger to her frustration.But when we fail to differentiate people from the actions of their political leaders, we all to easy fall into the trap of assuming that everyone supports the current policies of their government. That is simply not true, and if truth matters, which it does, then we should not overlook this simple fact.

- Robert, thanks for sharing your frustration. It irritates the heck out of me when some one blames America for the acts of a few, but we (our Media and our government representing us) do the same crap, retaliating the whole nation of Iraq, Iran or some one else for the acts of their dictators..
Bush was a "unilateralist" and his actions were anti-American, that is 72% of Americans did not approve his actions he still went ahead with it. What is the difference between him and Saddam? They were a dictatorship and we are a democarcy and bear the burden of the crimes committed in our name.I encourage dialogue, we should not be afraid of a dialogue, even if it is about hate speech. We should not shut any one, what is our fear?

Zakir Naik banned from Toronto conference
We applaud the Canadian move on banning hate speeches.
It is our duty to keep law and order and faithfully guard the safety of every citizen. Hate is one of the many sources of disrupting the peace in a society and it is our responsibility to track down the source of such hate and work on mitigating it. We have an obligation to maintain a balance in the society. When we are at peace, we can generate peace and we can expect peace around us. Our words and actions should mitigate conflicts and nurture reconciliation and goodwill.
We must stand up and support free speech, but when it messes with the peace of the society, it is “free” no more, it ‘un-frees” people and slaves them to hate. A hate speech can create chaos and fear in the society as much as a man yelling in the crowd “Fire”. The issue must be of law and order.
If in fact Dr. Naik has said this non-sense, “There are many Jews who are good to Muslims, but as a whole, the Koran tells us, as a whole, they will be our staunchest enemy.” We condemn his statement without reservation.
God clearly and repeatedly says in Quraan that whether your are a Jew, Christian or otherwise, you are guaranteed a place in heaven provided you are good to fellow beings and your environment. That is the only requirment to earn the creator's grace; to be good to fellow beings.
He has a right to free speech, but not malign Islam with non-sense like this statement. Where the heck did he get his Islam from? Does the man understand Islam means peace? Does he understand that God is not prejudiced? It is men like him and a few who worked for the previous administration who chop up God into bits and pieces, your God v. my God.
Who wants a God that hates his own creation, he is reducing God to be his God, a bad guy and not beneficent and merciful God that adorns every chapter in Quraan. He does not get Islam right.
The overwhelming majority of Muslims show respect to all religions as the Prophet did, indeed, Muslims are forbidden to ridicule any religion.
I know I will be rebuked by a few right winger Muslims, so be it, I will not let any idiot make my faith or any one's faith to be misrepresented, and the universal God to be reduced to a God who tells bad things about his own creation? That is not Islam he is preaching. It is time we the moderates speak up and not twiddle our thumbs and let a few men get away from their non-sense.

An Indian Muslim televangelist who was banned from Britain last week for “unacceptable behaviour” will not be allowed into Canada to speak at an upcoming conference in Toronto, sources familiar with the situation have told the National Post.
Dr. Zakir Naik, who has said “every Muslim should be a terrorist” and that Jews are “our staunchest enemy,” was to headline next month’s Journey of Faith Conference — which is billed as one of North America’s largest Islamic conferences and is expected to attract upward of 10,000 people.
Dr. Naik, the Mumbai-based founder of Peace TV and a widely respected lecturer in India, has a laundry list of views that could have led to his exclusion from the U.K. and Canada, both of which require an Indian citizen to obtain a visitor visa.
The 44-year-old medical doctor recommends capital punishment for homosexuals and the death penalty for those who abandon Islam as their faith.
He has said that a man is within his right to beat his wife “lightly,” though in a July 2009 YouTube video he cautioned against hitting her on the face or leaving a mark. The “Keep Zakir Naik Out of Canada” Facebook group, which was launched over the weekend, also points out his view that western women make themselves “more susceptible to rape” by wearing revealing clothing.
Among the chief reasons, British Home Secretary Theresa May decided to quash Dr. Naik’s U.K. speaking tour later this month, however, were comments he made in a widely circulated 2007 video.
“If [Osama bin Laden] is fighting the enemies of Islam, I am for him … If he is terrorizing a terrorist, if he is terrorizing America the terrorist, the biggest terrorist, I am with him,” said Dr. Naik, who has delivered hundreds of talks in India, Canada, the U.S. and the Middle East. “Every Muslim should be a terrorist.”
Tarek Fatah, founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress, said he and the congress have been informed that Dr. Naik will be “stopped at the airport,” and sources familiar with the situation confirmed Dr. Naik does not have a visa to enter Canada.
“We are very happy that government agencies, having been made aware of his statements, have taken this decision,” Mr. Fatah said, adding that he sent a mass email to federal MPs last week, warning them of Dr. Naik’s views. “We certainly don’t want hate-mongers to come here.”
“To me, the rules as to who can come into this country were written for this kind of person,” echoed Bernie Farber, CEO of the Canadian Jewish Congress. “The comments are highly inflammatory, and highly provocative. When you put them together in one cauldron, you have a stew of hatred.”
Dr. Naik, president of the Islamic Research Foundation in Mumbai, was reached via email on Monday but would not comment on his pending visit to Toronto. In fact, Dr. Naik may not yet know that he is unwelcome in Canada, sources said.
In his email to the National Post, Dr. Naik pointed to a June 20 statement regarding the “overzealous and islamophobic exclusion order” issued by the U.K. The statement seeks to clarify his comments, which the foundation argues were “taken out of context.”
The Journey of Faith Conference is chaired by Imam Saed Rageah, whose Toronto mosque, the Abu Huraira Centre, made headlines last fall after a group of young worshippers vanished and were feared to have joined a Somali militant group. Imam Ragaeh declined an interview request yesterday, but passed along a web video via email of Dr. Naik defending his comments and promising to challenge the U.K. ban.
According to the Journey of Faith event website, the “hope” of the July 2-4 conference at the downtown Metro Toronto Convention Centre is for Muslims to “renew their forgotten relationship” with the Quran. As of last night, the site still listed Dr. Naik as a featured speaker.

HAGEES HATE SERMONS ON PBS

Has any one investigated Hagee's motivation for his crusade? Is it the lavish life style?
What is he getting out of preaching hate?
How is he anything less than those terrorists who want to annhilate others?
Isn't he terrorizing the other people living in Israel?
I do hope that a majority of this attendees are for entertainment and his oratory skills and not bleieve in hate and destruction of God's universe.
I pray that God guides him to be a man of peace, he can turn his passion into peace for the people out there. Israel can be secure, if they can take a firm stand to follow the rule of law and justice for all.
